Ignacio Pérez Pérez born in Caracas, Venezuela in 1984.
Performance artist, photographer, researcher and independent organizer.
Since 2002 has presented solo and collective performance art works, in the context of museums, galleries and urban spaces, in festivals, events and indepently in Venezuela, Uruguay, Dominican Republic, Poland, Alemania, Chile, Canada, Cezch Republic and Brazil.
Actually with Aidana Rico, is director of PERFORMANCELOGÍA, independent organization dedicated to Archive and Dissemination of Performance Art and is fund member of PerfoLink, Platform of Performance Art in Latin America.
Performance art is my main artistic practice. I make performance art works since 2002: first solo, then in duets and collectives and then individually until now.
My research is based on observation of existence: all that exists inside me and outside me. I am interested to rake the reality in all its dimensions, enter into their interstices and examine its paradoxes and uncertainties. Create kaleidoscopic images that emerge from the confrontation between my own subjectivity and the subjectivity of others. I only use my body, personal objects and the different spaces where I make every performance.
Why I make performance? To find the other worlds inside this one.
Through PERFORMANCELOGÍA, with Aidana Rico, has organized the following events:
- VITAE: International Performance Art Event. With the participation of 4 local and 3 international artists. With the support of the Cultural Institute Brasil Venezuela. CELARG, Caracas, Venezuela (October 2009).
- Performance Art Workshop dictated by Bartolomé Ferrando. With the support of the Embassy of Spain in Venezuela. ONG, Caracas, Venezuela (October 2008).
- OBJETUAL: Performance Art Event. With the participation of 11 local artists. Museo de Bellas Artes, Caracas, Venezuela (April 2008).
- PERFORMANCE ART: Diálogos. Talk cycle on Performance Art. With the participation of María Elena Ramos, Antonieta Sosa, Margarita D'Amico and Rolando Peña. ONG, Caracas, Venezuela (May 2007).
